[This post was originally on the TWoP Chlois thread. With permission from the author, nwp01, I brought it here. It’s beautifully written and eloquently highlights issues I have with SVLois and SVClois. Thanks, nwp01, for an insightful, well-written comment.]
Heck, I like Lois, I don't need/want her to die or anything. I just firmly believe that for this Clark Kent, this Lois is not it. Actually, I like her as Ollie's Lois - Lollie is pure magic. For me, if they don't go Chlois, then they make SVClark and SVLois into a Lois and Clark duo that I cannot appreciate for a number of reasons:
Lois:
(Putting aside the issues of education and writing skills etc) If they go SVClois in the future, this becomes a Lois who spent years telling her cousin to stop loving this man because he was a nobody. And then, decides that since he really is Superman, it's ok for her to love him. She deserves his love, yet not the woman who stood by him when he was going through some of the toughest times in his young adult life.
This becomes a Lois who, after Clark came into the flooded out dam and saved you, the boy, and your cousin from a sure watery death, stands up in a hospital and basically insults Clark by telling him to stop being so useless. Useless? Really? This becomes a Lois who only gets hot and bothered for Clark when he displays a show of strength (as in Blank), or when he's aggressive on Red K. This also becomes a Lois and Clark who flirted over Chloe's grave TWICE. Once at the beginning of season 4 and then again at the beginning of season 7 in Lex's mansion - which I find is in completely bad taste, and sooo not the time for flirting (hint, hint writers).
Clark:
This becomes a Clark Kent who, after spending years watching his best friend work hard at being a reporter at the DP, watch her toil and sweat, and keep your secret, the secrets of all your family members that come to earth, the whole Justice League... and the one who you admitted, got you interested in journalism way back in earlier seasons.... now, when you are ready to come out to the world, you give your story to Lois??? And you know it's her dream to be big at the DP and you pass a story like that to someone else??
By going through the same "double identity" issue with SVLois in the future, this becomes a Clark Kent who learned absolutely nothing from his experience with Lana, and repeated his mistakes with Lois again for no good reason. With Lana and Chloe currently accepting his alien status so wholeheartedly now, it makes no sense to repeat that with Lois for so many years unless there is a better reason than: "I don't know if she will accept me."
At least with Chlois, he can rationalize that he's keeping her safe, because let's face it: With everything Chloe knows right now, she should be in perpetual danger. Braniac ought to know her and her connection to Clark. He's seen Clark agonizing over her in the hospital (Thirst), and he saw her in the Fortress!! The Fortress, people! - back in season 5. If he really wanted to hurt Clark, he could start with the human that he's obviously very close to. Thus, Chlois becomes a situation where he loves her so much "at first sight" because of everything they've been through in his young years, and despite the fact that he knows that she will accept him as an alien, he's been burned in the past whereby the knowledge of his secret put her in danger.
This also becomes a Clark Kent who seems to have thing for women who treat him like sh*t or think little of him. How long has Lana been giving him the run around? Earlier seasons she's not interested until he gets interested in Chloe. Season 5 ending: "I don't know how I could have ever loved you!" Season 6, one minute she's all about Lex, yet next minute, Clark was the only man she ever loved. Because, after all: Someone held a gun to your head and told you to have unprotected sex with Lex to make you even believe for a minute that you could be pregnant. Whatever.
As for Lois, I understand the whole banter that they are trying, but I don't understand how being told that you are useless in one form or another, over and over is a turn on.
But if they go Chlois:
There's sooo much history between the two of them, and the core four extending years back. This Lois would have been his first kiss, and his last kiss if the world was going to end after season 5. This Lois would have loved him when he was a nobody. This Lois didn't need the cape and tights or a show of manly strength to appreciate him, thank you very much. This Lois thought he could be so much more before he knew he could be more. This Lois has been his rock through some of the toughest trials and growing pains in his life. This Lois got him interested in journalism. This Lois has earned his trust and his love, and the trust of his hero friends.
Also, I find this parallel a bit ironic. SVLois has had a number of boyfriends who meant something to her - especially Ollie. Whereas for Clark and Chloe, it's really only been Lana and Jimmy. I like that. If they go Chlois, then in each other's lives, there's really only been one other that they had to grow out of to get to each other. Yet both of the former partners are still around, still very much in their lives, and still have a torch for them. Because isn't Jimmy supposed to have a thing for Lois? And frankly, it's only right that if Chloe kept his secret for years, she should have first dibs on breaking out his story. I could go on and on.
But the gist is, I think a lot of history to such a great love story such as Supes/Clark/Lois could be lost, if Chloe is just meant to die, move away from Metropolis, or get shoved under the rug as just someone who helped the JL in a city far, far away....

I completely agree with everything that this post says.
I don't hate Lois. I really liked her with Ollie but with Clark, no way! It makes no sense that even when Clark was having that nightmare in "Labyrinth" SVLois was nowhere to be seen. The only person who believed in him was Chloe. She is, imo, SVClark's Lois Lane.
Thanks for the post.:) I hope you can check out Tube Talk. There was an article that Jennifer(Tube Talk Girl) posted about Clark and Chloe. She also mentions how Chloe is, to her, SV's Lois.
I checked out Tube Talk and I agree wholeheartedly with Jennifer's post. Hopefully the SV writers will do Chlois.
I checked out your video, Ashley. It's really awesome! (PS: I left a comment there).
Thanks for the heads up. :)
thanks wwg for going over to check it out!
I responded:)
See i think making Chloe Lois or even going for Chlark would have been AWESOME... before Lois was introduced. Now it makes no sense, and really alot of peope ship Clois so you can't really disregard that whole fanship just because Lois isnt the Lois from the comics... really she's on the way to being Lois. And it's not like we were all the same people at age 18 that we will be at age 30. For me it's really realistic and its fun to see these two who initally don't get along slowly fall for each other. The real problem for Chlark is that the writers made it pretty obvious the feelings weren't recopicated. And Clark didn't feel that way about Chloe... personally now that Lois is in the show i love the relationship Clark and Chloe have as a best friends. I think that's alot more meaningful than any hook up that could have happened pre-Lois.
